We are looking forward to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert today! This will be our 4th annual trip to the show. There is so much talent on that stage! My very favorite part is when Jay Pierce sings "Prince of Peace". His voice is more than amazing! Here is a video of his performance.
Take a look at this year's gift for my boy's teacher's. Homemade flour sack kitchen towels. Flour sack towels are really the only towel I like to use in my kitchen. They dry like no other! I buy them in bulk at Target.
I am in love with monograms, lettering, and numbers. You will notice this as I share more photo's of my home. The lettering on the towels represents each teachers last name.
I scanned found items I have lying around the house into my computer. I also found a font I liked and printed out some Christmas sayings. I then printed everything onto iron-on t-shirt transfer paper. (remember if your using lettering you have to flip your image so that when you iron it on it will not be backwards) After printing just cut out your images and place them where you'd like them to be on your towel. Iron away!
To finish everything off I folded the towels and created a pouch where more goodies can be placed. The pouch also makes everything secure so you know item's won't be lost in transit. Tuck in a nice hand soap, a gift card or whatever else you choose. Tie everything together with a ribbon and tag. Customized flour sack towels - a good way to give something that is both very useful and also pretty darn cute!
This is Guinness in the foyer with the urn.
I brought this urn in from outside, stuffed the bottom with newspaper, covered the newspaper with natural colored tissue, made a big starburst out of comics, placed the starburst in the center of the pot, filled the edges with moss and tossed a lighted grapevine ball on top! It makes for a fun entry decoration.
I have been thinking about starting my Happenstance Home blog for such a long time and now here I sit pondering how I should begin. Despite the overall hustle and bustle of activity December really is the perfect time for me to figure this all out. The Christmas Season is one of my favorite times of the year. I look forward to pulling out all of the Christmas items I have collected and created. I love the extra sparkle and life that is added to the house. Ornaments are one of my favorite things to make and to stumble upon. Some years I am lucky enough to find a couple ornaments I really like and other years sadly pass without so much as a purchase. This year I have three trees decorated in their own ways. I like to wrap my packages, but not in traditional Christmas wrap. I will share that as well. I don't like the expected. I like to try and think outside the box. Thank you for taking a look and I look forward to sharing my love of decorating, crafting, cooking, great shops, fab finds and more!
