A Wedding

This is my cousin Shane and his beautiful bride Katie! I wish you could see the ruffles that ran down the one side of Katie's dress.  So pretty!

They were married last weekend  in Grand Rapids - the weather - a hot, hot, hot Michigan day!  The ceremony was outdoors and Reeds Lake was the backdrop.  So peaceful!

Off to the reception.
It was held at the Goei Center {Eastern Floral}.  Talk about an amazing space.  My photo's don't even come close to doing it justice.  The building is a renovated furniture factory and is loaded with character.  Old wood floors, brick walls, art installations.  So much to look at!

When you enter the building this a small fragment of what you see to the right.

Take a few more steps and you will find this.  Sorry for the crooked photo's.  My hands were full!

This is just a little glance to the left - also crooked.  The red you see in the far background is a door from an old train car.  The building itself is 80,000 square feet.  When you reach the end of the space on the left side you will find yourself entering the floral design center - a very large creative working space!

This metal frame actually houses a water feature.  Water cascades down each of the wires.  Crystals also add interest - looking much like exaggerated droplets of water.

Here I am (in the blue) with my sister.  Isn't this row of vintage chairs amazing!

Directly across from the entry but at the back of the building you will find the reception area.  Nothing cookie cutter about this space.  I love how the artwork adds a punch of color.  Isn't it beautiful!

Note the architectural details of the wooden ceiling and the brick walls!  All the pipes were exposed as well.  Galvanized fixtures illuminate the space.

More from the entry area.  Fish made of greenery rest beside ...

an indoor Koi pond.

Congratulations Shane and Katie.  You chose so well in one another.  I've only met Katie a couple of times and I like her so much!   All of your wedding decisions came together perfectly!  What a beautiful day!

  9. Looks like a fab wedding! so sorry you didn't get the new baby Whippet :( Maybe Guiness wants to be an only child! There's a breeder near us with 9 week pups, we are tempted to get a 3rd. You really can never have too many Whippets!
