Man Cave Revised: Girl Style

9:25 AM

Today I'm happy to share with you what my ideal "cave" for the girls would consist of.  I LOVE to be cozy and creative so I designed my space around gathering with my friends and doing just that.

My plan began by choosing custom metal and wood bar stools from Chairish.   They have many choices when it comes to unique stools for any bar area in your home - be it the cave or the kitchen.  I should probably ask - Have you visited Chairish yet?

Chairish is an exclusive curator-approved online market filled with vintage items.  As a result of looking for bar stools and other items for this project I ended up finding something that I have been searching years and years for.  I'm not only getting one of this particular item - it was being sold as a set of two with both colors - at less than the original price for one.   When I came across the listing I seriously sat at my desk thinking that I wasn't reading it right - even after it was in my cart and looking like I made the purchase it still wasn't registering.  I figured I was really going to get an email saying this item is no longer available.  It finally set in that this was really mine - and I still sat for some time kind of amazingly dumbfounded.  I will share my find when it arrives and I get it (or them) in place.  I'm so excited!  So, long story short, look around their site.  There are so many treasures just waiting to be found.  You never know what you will stumble upon - and really they carry the sort of items that really help make a home unique and individual.  Mix in your big box items with their finds, and you will really create a  space that is wonderfully you!

I created 3 boards just to really give you an idea of the way I'd love for my space to feel - and what kinds of pretty little things I'd enjoy using.   The bar stool set that I selected is in the top left corner of this first board.  Very industrial.  I think I would probably soften them up by tossing sheepskin throws over the seats.  On the right side of this board you will see two other metal bar stools that I found on the Chairish site.  The green chippy metal is very appealing to me.  Check out their entire collection of bar stools here.

My favorite kind of upholstery is slipcovers.  They are cozy and easy to maintain just by tossing the covers in the wash.  I couldn't live without them in my house so I know without a doubt I would want them in this space as well.   The white round coffee table mimics the round stool top.  It's the perfect spot to use the candle and candle holders - and add some flowers/books.  Blankets are necessary and this vintage sari blanket from Chairish brings pattern into the space in a neutral way.  Using a metal bar cart as a side table would also be nice.  Lots of open storage.  I added the bright coral console because I've been really wanting the desk version for years.  It's a favorite of mine.  Lamps - we really like llama's over here so that's my favorite, but it's not available.  I'm hoping that it shows up on the website again.  I really like all of these lamps for the space.  Lamplight = cozy!  A vintage rug and indigo poufs would help ground the space and add extra seating.  I rounded out the room by adding a little feminine color to the sofa with the pillows - a peachy velvet and vintage kilim rug pillow for the girly - but them grounding it with some masculine in the indigo pillows.  I think the room needs that balance of feminine/masculine to make the bar stools work.  That is also why I chose the black and white photography.  Such a happy picture of dogs jumping off a dock.  I love it!

This next board gives you an idea of the overall feel that I would love.  A fresh kitchen to pull the bar stools up to.  A fireplace in my cozy seating area.  A punch of color with the Erin Gregory painting and the aqua dining chairs.  Fresh and cheerful with plenty of space to cook, dine, and craft.

This final board shows the details up close, and adds a few extra that I couldn't fit on my first board.

Putting together this beautiful space makes me want to freshen up my own.

Other things I would find essential to have in this girly space:

music

trays

beautiful place settings (I really LOVE the blue patterned one)

artwork

the aqua pineapple from Chairish - this kind of find adds unique personality to your space

blanket in a pop of color - I love to pretty much match and then throw something in that is really unexpected - this is how I sometimes dress too.  It makes the ordinary become something special.

I hope you enjoyed my take on the "cave" concept.  Check out Chairish to see what you can add to your space to make it come alive, and look below for links to everything on the idea boards.

After looking at all of the ideas here - what would be your top must have's to bring comfort and beauty to you in your space?
