Going Back A Bit - Pretty Tabletop

Easter is so over, but really our table was so pretty. I thought I'd share a few photo's today. Tabletops are something that no matter holiday or not ideas can be found. Whether it be colors that are put together or items used there might be that little something that sparks a creative idea you'd like to use in your own home.

I didn't take too many photo's & they are a little rough.

I picked up this cute little chick at Michael's.

Basic white plates were used with a mix of vintage and pink salad plates. Peachy pink napkins - unironed - were set on top of the salad plates along with gold flatware. Very casual.

I bought the paper runner at Container Store after Christmas for a song.

Pink cut crystal glasses are from West Elm. The green glasses are from Target.

The chocolate bunnies are just so cute, and I figured they went along with the little chick that was made to look like candy. Other than the chick, silverware, and salt and pepper shakers I used items I already had on hand. Click here for details on the silverware and shakers.

Everything really came together to create a soft wash of color. And as always I used a bunch of my mismatched Moroccan inspired votive candle holders. Love them so much!

We had so much fun on Easter Day - delicious food and fun with family and friends. And seriously, pick up the game we played. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Easter Table - 2016

Today I'm going to share a quick post of our Easter Table. Nothing fancy - just using things I have on hand. The only new things are the eggs inside the large glass vase. I picked those up at Target this year - I will list sources for everything at the end of this post. I used 1 box in this vase. The eggs were my table color inspiration.

I usually like to run a wrapping paper runner down the middle of the table. I intended to do that again, but as I was putting Easter baskets together a piece of the cellophane was laying on top of the tablecloth. It looked so pretty - and the weave of the fabric mixed with the cellophane was so interesting that I decided to use my extra roll right down the center of the table. Usually I need 2 rolls - one for each basket - but the rolls from Target were very generous this time so i had an extra roll on hand.

Oh, I also purchased the short gold taper holders from Target. They were on sale for $2.99 each so why not. The little lights add so much to the table - and then I also used battery light votive candles picked up at Target last July. Oh, Target - maybe they need to start supporting my habit :)

I picked up the peachy pink napkins for $1 each from Pier 1 last October. Very good find. The feathers are Christmas ornaments from Target this past year. They look like ornaments sold at Anthropologie a year earlier.

Bead garland - I made this out of a Target necklace that I never wore. I bought it just because I liked the beads so why not use them. Now its just something neutral to toss here and there.

I found this pottery at Yellow Door Market in Berkley. The artist has the best work.

Volcano candle - clearance breadboard from Anthro years ago.

This embroidery is from an estate sale. It wasn't finished, but I liked the fabric, design, and the colors that were used so it came home with me.

Overall it was a table full of the candy colors I like most. If you stay true to colors that you really like when you are out shopping you will find that everything will work together. Use what you love - and really use them - they may get broken but isn't it better to get them out of the cupboard and enjoy them. Pretty much a few times a year things I really like get broken. This year I lost a goodwill find vintage plate at 4th of July, I lost a Nora Fleming retired yellow egg this Easter, and usually there is at least one broken wine glass each year. In the end they are just things - most can be replaced - I just don't worry about it since things aren't the important part of life. I might be a bit upset at the moment - but it does pass quickly for me. Hope you enjoyed our Easter table.

Easter Baskets - Teen Boy Style

Easter - so different as they grow up, but it can still have some of that Easter bunny goodness!

I'm finding it a funny day when much of my Easter basket fillers were picked up at the gas station. Teen boys do seem to love their gas station convenience store items. Oddly enough I know that these will be their favorites.

They love this Arizona Watermelon drink, and the beef jerky sticks. The hotter the challenge with the jerky the better. Peach Snapple is also another favorite among my boys and their friends.

They are also each getting a couple of pairs of boxers. This pair with the letters is my favorite.

This is J's basket. My boys really don't eat a lot of candy so there are just a few pieces.

J also gets an iTunes card.

This is Noah's basket.

He gets new baseball gloves instead of the iTunes card. He listens to his music free on his phone.

We still use the same baskets the boys have had from the start. It makes things so easy this way. I just store them from year to year.

All wrapped up, and also if your new to this blog I always use the same Easter Bunny tag. I made them when they were little, and printed out a whole bunch. I just have to go where I keep them - take one out - punch a hole - and I'm ready each year. I used this ribbon again too!

So, the baskets are simple, but filled with things teens will like and use.

Easter Day (Lots of Pictures)

Happy Belated Easter from our family and Guinness!

I wanted to put popcorn on the kids table much to a few people asking me what I was doing. That made me question myself, but then I received confirmation that my thought was a good one - there was not a kernel left. The kids also drank lemonade with strawberry popping bobas in the bottom of the glass. This went over very well! You have to buy the wide straws, and as you sip the popping bobas or bubbles come up the straw. When you bite them they burst with whatever flavor you used. Pretty fun!

My husband cooked up a storm. Everything was so-ooo good. This is a photo of the Easter Pies that he made. I didn't get a photo of his main dish, but Yum!

I really can't believe how pretty our eggs came out this year.

They have never looked so good.

We tried out some of the food dying methods.

Green tea = the very light egg (upper right)

Coffee = the brown tone eggs

Blueberries = purple shade eggs

Grape Juice - purple eggs with funky random specks

We tried cabbage, but it didn't work for us. We will have to try that again.

The blue eggs and the minty green eggs are the only eggs we used food coloring on.

We made up the turquoise formula from the box.

The bright blue were simply left in the turquoise.

Noah came up with the minty color in the middle.

He put his egg into the turquoise for a very short dip, and then he put it into the coffee. It gave the egg depth, and I love that he created the best color.

My boys are older, but they still enjoy their Easter baskets.

The boys really like the Sheldon character from The Big Bang Theory. They both had smiles ear to ear when they found their new t-shirts. In the past the gift has always been for sharing, but this year the shirts seemed like a better way to go.

bunny silhouettes

Bunny Silhouettes and Tissue Poms - Chandelier Easter Style

If you have been reading for awhile you have probably noticed that I like to dress up our kitchen chandelier with the seasons. This year I used supplies I already had on hand, and got creative! I've been trying to use as many things in my decorating this year that I already have in the house. I need to clean this place out!

I have been cutting out silhouette bunnies here and there since Monday. I went through all my patterned papers, and gathered up what I thought would be nice Easter colors and prints. I found this bunny silhouette online - its adorable with it's fluffy tail.

I had a bunch of tissue poms on hand. After grabbing a couple colors and fluffing them out they look pretty festive tucked into the chandelier. I then stood some of the bunny silhouettes into the poms. I like this photo because you can see Josh and Noah's creations in the background. Josh made the floral at school, and Noah's paper bag art is back from his preschool days. I bet his teachers would never have imagined any of those bags were still used and in one piece.

Here you can see the plates I'm going to use. I did purchase the paper plates, napkins, and the little ombre bowl sets. I will be able to use the bowls for so many things later. I actually bought the plates first, and then everything else just kinda worked together. I'm pretty picky, but I like to mix things up anyhow. I guess it's just my kind of quirkiness. Oh, I probably should mention that this is where the kids are sitting.
