For Fall I always like to set my table really simply.  Usually soft colors.  I gather things up from what I already have.  This year I added a little bit of new with the placemats.  It's a different choice for me, and I decided to drape them off the side of the table instead of placing them longways.  I also brought some of my outside chairs indoors.  So a big mix of seating.

The chocolate bunnies are just so cute, and I figured they went along with the little chick that was made to look like candy.  Other than the chick, silverware, and salt and pepper shakers I used items I already had on hand.  Click here for details on the silverware and shakers.

Everything really came together to create a soft wash of color.  And as always I used a bunch of my mismatched Moroccan inspired votive candle holders.  Love them so much!

We had so much fun on Easter Day - delicious food and fun with family and friends.  And seriously, pick up the game we played.  I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

It's been awhile since I have shared a tabletop - so here is my simple Thanksgiving table.   My inspiration began with a paper feather garland, and an adorable Thanksgiving towel that I  nabbed on clearance at Nordstrom.  $9 later I had my starting point.  From there I just went through my cupboards and gathered the rest of what I needed.


Having a nice set of white plates always makes it easy to set your table, and change the look depending on the other accessories you choose.  Food also always looks nice on a clean white plate.


Lastly, a little view of the room.  We haven't done anything in our house for what seems like forever.  This year the main level is getting a bit of a makeover.  New kitchen, wood floors, lighting, some wallpaper, and hopefully dining room chairs.  So much pressure choosing things when you know you will be living with them for a long time.   Wish me luck!   I'm going to need it!  Also, thank you for reading :)

Late last week we made a very quick visit to Nashville.  Main objective - Vanderbilt University.  We stayed at the Omni Hotel, and I enjoyed every design detail of their Kitchen Notes restaurant.  All of the wood finishes, the fabric on the banquette, the oversize white spindle windsor chairs, the glassware,  flatware, and dishes.  I loved it all.   The food was delicious too.  We enjoyed a very nice breakfast of fried chicken and biscuits.  That chicken was heaven.

This mix is all about that restaurant, and includes all the details of their place settings.  The place settings had farmhouse charm - kind of a nod to speckled eggs.  The flatware was so pretty, and one of the spoons had more of a squared off end.  I loved that spoon!  You can see it in the picture above that has the black background.  It reminded me of a coffee spoon that I have that belonged to my grandma.  Even the glassware was pretty with it's subtle design.  They also use jelly jars as vases and holders for the sugar packets.

Everything about the design of Kitchen Notes was so well put together.  Also, on the bottom right of this mix do you see the detail on some of the plates from their plate wall.  The animal shapes are actually cut right out of the china.  How fun is that!

I can't wait to go back to Nashville so I can spend more time seeing everything, and visiting the different areas.  Vanderbilt was amazing - I would feel really good about sending my son there.  Time will tell.

Overall it was a table full of the candy colors I like most.  If you stay true to colors that you really like when you are out shopping you will find that everything will work together.  Use what you love - and really use them - they may get broken but isn't it better to get them out of the cupboard and enjoy them.  Pretty much a few times a year things I really like get broken.  This year I lost a goodwill find vintage plate at 4th of July, I lost a Nora Fleming retired yellow egg this Easter, and usually there is at least one broken wine glass each year.  In the end they are just things - most can be replaced - I just don't worry about it since things aren't the important part of life.  I might be a bit upset at the moment - but it does pass quickly for me.  Hope you enjoyed our Easter table.
